BitCluster, the Russian industrial mining operator, has opened a large data centre on the premises of the closed Norilsk Nickel plant.

The data centre will operate as a “hotel for mining”. Users will be able to rent equipment for the extraction of cryptovoltaic currency, paying extra for electricity. BitCluster has entered into a direct contract with the Norilsk-Taimyr Energy Company for its supply.

The first customer of the data centre will be a company Bitcoin System from China, whose name is kept confidential.

The first 150 Antminer S19 ASIC majors have already been delivered to the premises and the equipment will soon be launched. The engineers have designed a canopy with warm air supply to eliminate snow and protect the equipment from overcooling.

The first stage of the data centre’s electrical capacity is 11.2 MW. It is planned to increase this capacity to 31 MW next year.

Let’s remind, in April the president of company “NorNickel” Vladimir Potanin has supported the law “About digital financial assets”. It will come into force on January 1, 2021.

About plans on release of the own tokens provided with metals, the head of “Nornikel” for the first time has declared in 2019.
